"Mafia's Foreign Minister" will be detained in a maximum security prison

Salvatore Miceli, 63, was wanted since 2001 for trafficking heroin and cocaine and is considered one of the 30 most dangerous men in Italy

The Italian authorities decided on Wednesday that Salvatore Miceli, a convicted organized crime boss dubbed the "Mafia's foreign minister", will be detained in a maximum security prison. Venezuela deported the convicted drug trafficker on Tuesday.

The mafia boss, who arrived in Rome on Wednesday morning, on a flight from Caracas was received by special agents who took him immediately to the prison of Civitavecchia, about 100 km from Rome.

Salvatore Miceli, 63, was wanted since 2001 for trafficking heroin and cocaine and is considered one of the 30 most dangerous men in Italy.

The so-called Cosa Nostra's Foreign Minister, due to his ties with the Sicilian mafia and the South American drug traffickers, will be transferred to a maximum security prison, whose name was not disclosed.
