The Archbishop of Coro, Roberto Lückert, said that the fact that pro-government lawmakers refused to broadcast a meeting on Tuesday between the members of the Parliament Coordination Committee and Jorge Cardinal Urosa Savino Cardinal is a strategy to prevent people from listening to the arguments of the Jorge Cardinal Urosa Savino.
"Cardinal (Urosa) is a very well-educated man. He is very intelligent and well informed and he was going to reply with sound arguments to any insult made by the group of lawmakers. Therefore, they decided not to air the meeting," Lückert told El Universal.
The Archbishop of Coro added that the presence of Cardinal Urosa in the seat of the National Assembly shows that his statements are transparent.
Monsignor Lückert said that the Catholic Church "is not intended to overthrow any government." He urged the National Assembly's Coordination Committee to listen seriously to the remarks made by the Venezuelan church leaders.
